Obituary of Jack Garvin

John F. “Jack” Garvin, 82, Gas Center, went to be with the Lord February 4, 2020 at Indiana Regional Medical Center surrounding by his loving family. Born May 28, 1937 in Luciusboro, the son of the late Rev. Earl C. and Rhoda (Bennett) Garvin. Also preceded in death by brothers Charles “Chuck”; Todd and Allen Garvin and sister Nancy Garvin. Survived by wife of 61 ½ years Carol Jean (Plowman) Garvin. Daughters Cheryl Yaworski and husband Joe, Dilltown; Margie Allison and husband James “Reek”, Gas Center; grandchildren Jackie (Allison) Treese and fiance Patrick Gobbel, Elizabeth; Dana (Yaworski) Wilhelm and husband David, Armagh; Greg Yaworski and wife Danielle, Clyde; James F. Allison, II, Indiana; great-grandchildren Hannah Treese, Eli Wilhelm, Oakley Wilhelm, Lenna Yaworski. Brother James “Jim” Garvin, Blairsville. Sisters Thalya “Toye” Coleman, Indiana and Harriet Harvey, Blairsville. Numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Bob and Joan Marshall and Wilbur T. Fry. Jack was a member of Blacklick Community United Methodist Church. He was a racecar driver at Jennerstown Speedway and other local tracks, and avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle all over the country, camping, boating, flying his air plane, restoring antique cars, and going to Disney. He was a member Armagh Subway Morning Coffee Klatch. Jack loved the Lord and wanted to make sure everyone to know the Lord. Jack was a retired employee of Seward Generating Station, who previously worked for Transue and Williams Stamping and Owens Illinois Glass Factory. After retiring from Penelec he drove transport for Zimmer Orthopedic and School Bus for United School District. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to IRMC, especially the 6th floor, infusion dept. and E.R., the staff at Indian Haven, VNA Nurses and Dr. Nettleton’s and Dr. Ramineni. Jack was a very fortunate man who lived a long happy and exciting life, he's traveled so many places and seen so many things in his lifetime. He had so many toys and everything he ever wanted all while having a loving family to share it all with. He was truly blessed and will be missed but most of all he is pain free now and back to his wild and crazy old self!...watch out heaven, he's going to roll a mower over. Shared by Jack’s grandson Gregory. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia Street, Armagh and 10 AM till time of service at 11 AM Saturday at Blacklick Community United Methodist Church, 1453 Bracken Road, Vintondale; Pastor Tom Phillips officiating. Future inurnment Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Blacklick Community UMC or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society www.lls.org
