Timothy Mulvihill

Obituary of Timothy J. Mulvihill

Timothy J. Mulvihill, 81 of Indiana died peacefully Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Indiana Regional Medical Center surrounded by his wife and daughters.

Tim was born March 30, 1942 in Smokeless, a son of the late Joseph and Margaret (McGrane) Mulvihill. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William & Philip Mulvihill.

Tim held many titles in his life, but family was everything to him. His favorite role was being a father & grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine (Peer) Mulvihill; his two daughters, Beth Mulvihill, Murrysville, and her two children, Sydney & Ethan Shearer; Jane (Robert Jr.) Mundorff, Bolivar, and four children, Gracie, Abel, Jake, & Annie Mundorff. He is also survived by his siblings Joanne Mulvihill, Grosse Pointe, Mich; Catherine (John) Trusz, Lancaster; and Matthew (Karen) Mulvihill, Greensburg; along with many nieces and nephews.

Tim served as a Vietnam-era Veteran in US Army Intelligence 18th US ASA Field Station, in Germany. He graduated with a BS in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he had an emphasis on history and geography. Tim then worked for the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation for 33 years for the State. Recently, Tim has been known for his devoted service as a volunteer at IRMC for 13 years, where he was chosen as the 2023 Volunteer of the Year.

Affectionately known as Pup, Puppy, or Poppy by his grandchildren, he loved Sunday family dinners.  He was always there for his family, whether he was teaching them valuable life lessons or cheering them on at performances and athletic events. He always had the best advice for them, and above all taught them to be strong and to do what made them happy. He always knew how to make them laugh and smile, and always loved them no matter what. His grandkids loved spending time with their Pup and will truly miss him. There has never been a better grandpa to walk this earth than he.

Tim fought his battle with heart disease for 25 years. Despite spending much of that time in and out of the hospital, he never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his entire journey, he dispensed advice to his family, made jokes with his nurses and doctors & searched for coffee & ice cream. An avid reader, lover of collecting pigs and the beach, he had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor & wit will be missed.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army. A private family burial will be held at St. Simon & Jude Cemetery in Blairsville, officiated by Robert Mundorff, Jr.
