Obituary of Betty Pierce

Betty Rose (DeForno) Pierce, 82, of Dilltown passed away on Sunday November 12, 2023. She was born November 18, 1940, in Salina, PA.  A daughter of the late Marion and Mary DeForno.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many.  Her family was so special to her.  She loved making huge Sunday and Holiday meals for family gatherings.  She was an incredible cook that didn’t need a recipe or exact measurement to make a delicious meal.  She always said the most important ingredient to any recipe was “Love” and it showed in everything she made.  She enjoyed talking on the phone, telling jokes, gardening, flowers, collecting antiques and refinishing furniture. The most important thing to her was her family.

Betty will be sadly missed by her husband of 64 years, Edgar Pierce of Dilltown, son Jeffrey and Rosslyn Pierce of Penn Run, siblings Louella Lynn of Florida; Patricia Leonard of Saltsburg; Shirley and Phil Clutts of North Carolina; Sally and Malcolm Lawrence of Maryland; Daniel and Becky DeForno of Saltsburg; Kathy and Ron Grablowski of Virginia and Mary and Steve Summers of Montana, along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.  Betty will be especially missed by her grandchildren Jeremy and Shannon Pierce of Vintondale; Aleah Pierce and Joe Tokosh of Cresson; and Miranda, Cody and Theo (Great) Lute of Blairsville; all of whom she treasured.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Christine Pierce; siblings Valorie Brinker; Donald DeForno; George DeForno.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations in Betty’s name to https://lymphedema.pitt.edu/donate.php or the American Cancer Society or the Heart Association.

In honoring Betty’s wishes all services will be private and there will be no public viewing.
