Obituary of George I Shank

George I. Shank, 90, Bolivar, passed away November 15, 2023, at Scenery Hill Manor.  Born January 11, 1933, in Ridgeview, the son of the late Melvin and Sara (Brett) Shank.  Also preceded in death by sister Sara Kells; brothers James Shank and Roger Shank.

Survived by loving wife of 67 years, Patricia (Henderson) Shank. Children Mike Shank, Sr., Bolivar; William Shank and fiancé Charla Irwin, Greensburg; Stephen Shank and wife Stacy, Latrobe; grandchildren Michael Shank, Jr. Christen Piper, Heather Shank, Billy Shank, Jr., Shayla Shank, Skylar Shank, Shallyn Shank; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Wayne Shank, Blairsville; and former daughter-in-law Janice Shank, Bolivar.

George was an avid bowler, hunter, fisherman and wood worker.  George graduated from Bolivar H. S. in 1950, achieving perfect attendance for twelve years. He was a Marine Corps veteran.  After retiring from Bethlehem Steel, he was a self-employed carpenter / handyman.  A member of Bolivar Methodist Church and attended Robinson Methodist Church.
